I recently passed a national certification exam in my specialty. Passing was 95 and my score was 120. Certification is required by my employer and part of their marketing strategy is to make sure potential clients know that all of their nurses are certified.
Once the news was out I received hugs and handshakes and congratulatory emails from all of higher management at corporate headquarters. They proudly announced that my raise would be effective immediately.
My raise? 1/2 %. It works out to 22 cents an hour, 458 dollars a year.

Did your employer pay for the certification prep and exam? If not, the increase would hardly cover it! Hope your great neiceling is doing wonderful!
There was no certification prep. I took the test cold. I have yet to see reimbursement for the cost of the exam. It was only 200 dollars.
Congratulations! Of course, your success is no surprise to me, but really, your employer could have been a tad more appreciative. Glad to see that Baby Thomas & parents are doing well.
CONGRATS!!!! on passing the exam with flying colors! And cold, to boot! WOOT! YOU! Rock!
And that Really sucks. Bad. Typical, but it still really sucks. Keep pushing for reimbursement.
Congrats ~ first and foremost!! As far as the raise goes, as my dad always says, it’s better than a sharp stick in the eye! I know it’s not much consolation, but seriously, could they have a least given you a whole percentage?
The cost of the exam is almost half of your raise, I’d say it’s something ~ I’d be asking for the reimbursement!
How’s baby Thomas doing?
Congratulations!
And, -congratulations? Don’t you love that feeling of appreciation not quite coming through the paycheck? (What nursing shortage?)
