He’s Home!

Thomas has been discharged from the hospital. He weighs 4 pounds, is eating like a champ, and has had no episodes of apnea or bradycardia for 8 days. He and his mom are ensconced at my sister’s house and the crazy, control-freak, battering father has had restraining orders taken out against him.

Baby Update

Baby Thomas is off the ventilator now, peeing and pooping and starting to eat.  He weighs 2 pounds 12 ounces and has a head full of dark hair.
 Nieceling is pumping enough breastmilk to put Elsie the cow to shame and all of her parts are working well after the crash C-section. Husband is hovering like [...]

We Have A Baby Now

My niece’s baby was born this morning via hasty C-section due to a decelerating heartrate.  Mom is upset but no longer in danger.  Baby is on a ventilator in NICU and will probably be there for a couple of months.

Trouble

The pregnant Nieceling has been hospitalized with severe pre-eclampsia and is being transferred to a hospital that specializes in high-risk deliveries.  The doctors are making noises about an early delivery by C-section.  She is only 29 weeks pregnant and ultrasounds show that baby Thomas’ lungs aren’t moving.  The doctors say that by this time in [...]
